Summer 2018

What an awesome summer we had. We probably were at our home a handful of days throughout the summer and I wouldn't have it any other way! Right after school started we had a Lambert Retreat at Capitol Reef. I had never been there only driven through a couple of times and it was so much fun.
We went on a little hike with Kina's family the day that we left and it was such a fun hike. The kids did great even though it was pretty toasty.
The day that everyone was to meet there Jesse took the boys of the family early in the morning to fish lake. Nicole's boys got their first taste of fishing and had a great time. They did get caught in a rainstorm in the middle of the lake. Jesse is a rockstar for taking them all. He rowed all day and is my hero!
A little dinner at a yummy restaurant to get the festivities started. I planned a little itinerary for the weekend which worked fabulously. Sometimes when you have SO many people its hard to get things rolling.
Jesse of coarse had to wake up at 5 AM to do some fishing in the area. He always wakes up so early so that he can be back by breakfast and not miss any family time. He's pretty cool that way!
I love how close our families are. It doesn't matter who they are with, we are all so close.
Everyone "may" have gotten sick of me taking pictures, but I don't care!
Jesse and Chad recreating their South Dakota picture.
We got to see some cool hieroglyphs.

On the night of my Dad's birthday we all wrote down a memory of him and shared it with eachother in a tee-pee. How cool right. It was an awesome experience and one I will not forget. We really want the grandkids to know a lot more about their grandpa than I ever knew about my grandparents who died before I was born.
Jesse's attempt at bouldering. I was impressed, he got close but could make it up.

Philadelphia
I haven't been able to join Jesse on one of his trips for quite a few years and I was able to meet him in Philadelphia for 2 days. It, as always, was an adventure getting there but I read 3 books and got to spend some good quality time with Jesse.
Philadelphia is a beautiful city and there was SO much to see. We walked and walked and walked some more. We got to see pretty much everything we wanted to and even got to tour Independence Hall even though we didn't make arrangements for tickets. It was so much fun.
Benjamin Franklin is one of my ancestors so it was pretty cool to see his grave and hear so much about his involvement in the development of our country.
Where the Declaration of Independence was signed.
We walked a very long way to see this beautiful temple. We had to go through the ghetto and I was a little scared but it was worth it.
I teased Jesse that this would be his hunting picture of the year. I hope i'm wrong!
Jesse and I of coarse had to run up the "Rocky Steps." I heard it was really hard and it made us feel much better that it wasn't! We aren't as old as we thought!
Yes, we had a philly cheesesteak and Yes it was delicious. We also had one of the famous donuts, if only I could remember what it was called. It was SO rich. Yummy.
