What a GREAT trip. This is just one of MANY smiles. We started out just our little family and got to stay in a great hotel in Waikiki. We were up super high and had some gorgeous views. We went day 1 to the pineapple plantation and had some great dole whip. Then we went to Waimea Falls and swam in the freezing cold waterfall. Then we were able to hit up shark cove and turtle bay. We saw some great fish while snorkeling and saw a lot of the incredible island. We wanted to do some cliff jumping but when we got there the waves were HUGE and I wouldn't let the kids do it. Of coarse the pictures are out of order but day 2 we took a kayaking trip. We went out to the Chinaman hat. What a fun experience. We kayaked out in the ocean and the kids were pretty scared. HAHA. When we got there we took a hike up the top which to our surprise had a pretty difficult rock climbing section which of coarse we loved. The way down was a bit tricky. The views at the top were incredible. Then we went across the park to a fresh water river and got to jump of a rope swing which is always a highlight for us. This is were our coined phrase "glass is in session" began. We got rained on a lot. It got pretty cold and intense at times which now we laugh about.
One of the days we were able to do the PCC and temple. My mom paid for VIP tickets for the PCC and it was SOOO nice. We didn't wait for anything. The shows were amazing and the Luau was incredible with the best pineapple drinks ever.
Day 3 we got to check into our original hotel at the Aulani Resort. We aren't a family that is used to fancy things. We generally prefer the run down, cheap hotel, and spend our money elsewhere but my Mom had other plans and really spoiled us rotten. It really was a gorgeous hotel.
We stopped by this gorgeous beach. The waves were huge and the current was so strong we weren't allowed to get close. But it was so pretty. The only bad thing about this trip was Lexi got so sick for a few days. Crazy bad sore throat that didn't seem to get better even with medicine. We felt so bad for her and she did her best to suck it up and keep going.
The next day we went to Kualoa Ranch and went on the Hollywood movies tour which was so much fun. They showed us the many movies that were filmed there which makes sense its so beautiful. Pearl Harbor is absolutely amazing. Its hard not to feel emotional about it. We were lucky enough to be able to see the USS Utah on base.
We tried out many, many beaches trying to find a good boogy boarding beach and we striked out every time.
This is a trip of a lifetime. Thank you Grandma for making this happen!
