We went on our yearly Europe trip this past week to Ireland. We planned to go to Ireland with a back up of Rome, if flights didn't look so good. This is how you pack for a 5 day trip on standby. Thank goodness we went to Ireland and had a car! We were able to fly business class both ways. Well me and Jesse, sorry Cody and Beth :( It was awesome for us.
Picking up our car to drive on the wrong side of the road, on the wrong side of the car. Jesse and Cody did such an awesome job. Although, I could see we were all pretty nervous at times. Especially on the tiny roads where only 1 car could fit going 100km on almost every road.
Trinity College- This is a beautiful school. We went to see the Book of Kells which is the 4 gospels which dated back to early a.d. Beautiful. I kept thinking of my sister Kina and how much she would love this huge library with more old books than you can imagine.
I would LOVE to live in this old house... Maybe one day.
If you've seen Leap Year, this is the bridge they were talking at in Dublin. We pretty much ran past because our meter was out of time and the last thing we wanted in a different country was to get in any trouble! Plus we had 3 days to see all of southern Ireland. It was very busy.
St. Patricks Catherdral
Count of Monte Cristo's home
"I'd like to purchase your lovely home"
This place was GORGEOUS, and we almost passed it up. You have to be very selective when you are visiting for such a short amount of time. This was well worth it.
Rick Steve's Rocks, everyone finds him useful.
Powerscourt waterfall
We stayed at B&B's the whole time and it was awesome! They are inexpensive, and beautiful. This is at breakfast having an Irish breakfast. The dark one is called black pudding and made out of sheeps blood. YUCK!
Rock of Cashel- This is inside an old monestary and the paintings were beautiful.
Dedicated to Grandma & Grandpa Johnson!
Ireland is SO beautiful. I'd live there in a second if it wasn't so cold, rained all day and if you could ever see the sun :)
In one penninsula we were at was home to 500,000 sheep.
This is the 2nd nights B&B location.
Cliffs of Kerry- Breathtaking. The water was so freezing, it gave me a whole new perspective on the Titanic conditions.
Everytime we looked back this is what we saw! They blamed it on Jesse's driving and said it was either be sick or sleep. I think it was just jet lag!
The car ferry. It was only like a 20 minute boat ride, but saved us a lot of time. It was pretty fun too.
The Cliffs of Moher
Getting wasted at the bar of our first pub with some awesome Irish musicians!
What a great trip. Whitney came and stayed with our kids which was awesome. Thanks Whitney. It was extremely hard leaving them though. I missed them so much and couldn't wait to get back and see them. I feel so lucky to be able to travel and see the world. I can't wait til Rome next year!

So jealous! Looks amazing!
so amazing Carrie!!! Love all your awesome pictures!
Holy cow! What an amazing trip. I could have told you it was going to be cold, Babe. We went to England in May and it was cold, and Ireland is a lot furthur north! Loved everything about it - the castles, the library filled with old books, and I learned that the famous cliffs in Ireland are called "Moher" and not "Dover" like I had always thought... Chalk it up to their Irish accents I guess! :) Oh, I love your hair and Jesse looks sexy in his sweater. Hmmm... I think that is all. Oh, and tell Beth and Cody "Hi" for me. The End.
I'm glad you had so much fun! I can't wait until Jon and I get to take the kids!
