Christmas in NYC

As awesome as going to NYC before Christmas sounds, you must here the whole story first.  We wanted to meet up with one of my friends from highschool who lives in Boston, so we decided to meet up in NY for a couple of days. I don't have any pictures of us all together, but when I get some I will post them. She has a beautiful little girl and boy who are my kids ages and they all had so much fun. I hadn't seen her since highschool, so it was such a blast to all get together.  We first had to go to Central Park to go ice-skating. It was Lexi's first time going and it wasn't so easy skating with a 2 year old.  After 2 laps around your back was killing you and you needed a break, but it was so worth it.
The big tree at Rockerfeller. What a gorgeous tree, but oh boy was it crowded and dinner cost us double what it would outside of the city.
Looking at the Macy's windows. They were awesome.
All of the girls licking the window after being told not to a million times. Kind of cute though!
The famous big piano in that wierd named toy store. They really did have anything you could think of.

So... on with the story. We shared a hotel room right in time square with a killer view. Jesse got to visit his mission companion who lives in NY studying to be an actor. We made it threw the night of 4 kids in one room. At one point or the other it felt like someone was crying, but it was fun! We woke up and realized that the flights were now horrible and it would be hard to get home.  If only we knew what was in store for us.  Jesse absolutely had to be home for work on Friday, so we left early to try to make a flight.  We went to JFK airport to find there was no way we would get out, so we took a very expensive bus ride to LGA in NY to try to catch a flight there. Well they looked decent to Birmingham, AL so Jesse jump seated home to drive to Alabama to pick us up there that night. Well... we didn't make the flight. We missed flight after flight that night until 10 PM. Flights the next day looked worse and we were afraid we wouldn't make it home. Alone in an overcrowded, rude people, city there I was.  We tried to buy tickets which were all sold out. So, I thought I'd sleep there that night since I didn't get done til 12 AM looking at flights. I was going to try to make a 6 AM flight. While trying to get the girls to sleep, I was told I would have to leave...What the freak!! So after much tears of not knowing what to do, my mom and husband made me hail a cab and go to a very expensive hotel for a few hours of sleep. Well, the next morning we got to the airport and again missed flight after flight due to Chicago airport closing. AHHHH. Try entertaining 2 kids in a busy airport with no one wanting anything to do with them.  Yep, it sucked. Then, by a miracle from Heaven Jesse  got off of work which wasn't supposed to happen for 4 days, jumped on a flight to DC where I drove 5 hours to meet him and we drove 15 hours home arriving at 5:30 AM and Jesse leaving for work at 7:30. Yep...I'm surprised i'm laughing right now.  What an expensive, nightmare...Now, I plan to never leave my house until after Christmas and enjoy every second that I can!
